I Found a Goldmine!

Last night I had to find pieces to donate because earlier in the day I went to Lovelady Thrift store for their 50% off sale. I wanted to look - but not buy anything. Unfortunately/Fortunately - I found some great pieces.

For $58.16, I bought...

1 Pair of pants
1 Shirt
1 Denim Culotte
2 Jackets
2 Skirts
2 Tops
2 Pairs of jeans
4 Sweaters

Also included in that price was a phone/MP3 docking station alarm clock and 2 bike helmets (had a couple of close tornadoes recently and was advised to buy helmets to protect our heads from possible falling debris).

This is actually an outfit. These Gloria Vanderbilt jeans still had the tags. The sweater is Talbots.

The black denim jacket still had the tags on them. The cowl sweater looks much better on than in the picture.

The v-neck knit pull-over sweater (L) and the Forever 21 red skirt will be an outfit.

The culottes will look so cute with some wedge boots - very 70s!

The oatmeal colored sweater is from the Gap. I can see myself wearing it with the black jeans I bought.

Oh What a Find!

Saturday was a beautiful sunny winter day and I felt the need to get out. So I went to The Foundry and Mission Possible.

I went into The Foundry and it felt like just seeing a long-lost friend. It was the first time there since I moved in September. The Foundry was around the corner from my former residence, so it was very convenient. Now it's an extra few minutes drive. But when I walked in, I noticed a lot of great furniture, but no clothing. I didn't even see anything to try on just for fun! So I left after walking around 30 minutes and proceeded to Mission Possible.

Then I arrived at Mission Possible. It took a few minutes of walking around, but I did find some greats items. For $39.11 (with my 20% off coupon from the Yellow Pages) I bought the following...

1 Jones New York Dress
1 Eileen Fisher Top
1 Scarf
2 Jackets (Danskin, Chicos)
3 Pairs of shoes (Enzo Angiolini, Grasshoppers, Street Feet)

Picture the blue tee, green jacket and green loafers with a pair of jeans or denim skirt.

That Jones New York dress is gorgeous! I had to buy it when it looked good on me in my "bad" non-dress underwear.

I own a scarf like this in a different color. Scarves are a fashion staple for me.

It Was a Great Mission-Possible Shopping Trip

A couple of weeks ago I went to Mission Possible just because it was a beautiful Saturday to get out of the house, and boy did I find some great pieces for $76.00 (would have been cheaper if I had brought my MP coupon from the phone book)...

Thrift Store finds 7.25.15

Yesterday  I decided to take some me time and enjoy the summer sun. So how do I enjoy myself? I go to my favorite Asian restaurant and get some thrift store therapy.

So with Mission Possible coupons and the hope of finding some casual pants. Unfortunately, my body is going through a metamorphosis and I need to accommodate my ample abdominal area. (ugh!) Also, I'm taking two out-of-state trips soon and wanted to have some non-work casual options.

I went to two Mission Possible locations, Lovelady and the Foundry on the hunt for those bottoms that fit and I feel confident in wearing.

My entire shopping spree was $46.77 and it was a name-brand bonanza...I bought the following:

1 Coldwater Creek Crochet Sweater
1 White Stag T-shirt
1 Merona Denim-colored Cargo Short
1 Pair of Bandolini Blu Jeans
1 Pair of Gold Earrings
2 Pair of Shoes (Apostrophe booties and Groove flats)
4 Pair of Pants (LEI, Gap, Sonoma, Axcess by Liz Claiborne)

I have too many fashion obsessions (argyle sweaters, Liz Claiborne, camouflage, and booties). I couldn't resist those booties - the heel profile is so cute! 

I love that crochet red sweater and the shoes are adorable! And with camouflage all the rage - I'll keep an eye out for a reasonably priced blazer. 

I managed to make outfits with just the pieces I bought. I didn't know I was doing that at the time - but hoo-ray for me!

Thrift Store Fashion Find 7.3.15

Lovelady thrift store had a re-opening sale. Actually, they never closed, but did some redecorating and had a three day sale that began Thursday, July 2nd through July 4th.  Thursday and Friday's sale was 30% off everything in the store and Saturday was 50% off. Me and the girls met for lunch on Friday and began shopping. Since I was low on cash and was only searching for one particular item (a navy blue dress), I stated that we only go to Mission Possible which shared the same parking lot as the restaurant and Lovelady.

I walked in Mission Possible and I found the blue dress. It was Old Navy and was for $6.99. I also found a Cato "flip-flop" dress (I took the term from the EVINE home-shopping network) for $6.99 too. So with my 20% off purchase coupon my total was $11.18.

This was the perfect navy dress! The "flip-flop" dress is typically not my style, but I really like it and willing to step out the box.

When we got to Lovelady, I saw several pieces that I liked (including a computer mouse new in the box for $3.49), but knew that I could only spend so much. After spending four hours there - I emerged only spending $17.72 (including the mouse)...

The picture doesn't justify this green boucle' skirt. It had gold thread in it.

The two tanks will come in handy this season. The grey and black plaid jacket is Cato. I bought the pink linen pants to go with the the jacket.

While waiting for my friends as they checked-out, I found a 15-pack of blank CDs and paid an additional $2.21. So in total I spent $31.11 - that's great shopping!

Thrift Store Finds and New Friends (Oh My!)

Saturday (6.6.15) was another 50% off sale at Lovelady. As usual, my friend Mia and I planned to make it a day of thrift store shopping. While at Lovelady, we met two ladies who made an hour drive to Birmingham for the sale - and instantly, we hit it off! We ate lunch and traveled to several local thrift stores. It turned out that we had many things in common, and now we have great new friends and thrift shopping buddies.

Since we went to several stores, of course, I made numerous purchases. Fortunately for me, I only spent $44.97 in total! Also, it didn't hurt that I had (and shared) coupons for Mission Possible stores and it seemed as if all the thrift stores had a sale. I purposely refrained from going to The Foundry because I didn't want to bust my $50 shopping budget.

So for $44.97, I bought the following...

The belt and the sleeves made this boyfriend sweater unique.

The striped shirt is NY and Co., and the grey knit shirt is Ann Taylor Loft.

Adore this striped jacket! The Chico's brand crop pant still had the tags on. This Sarah Spenser cascading two-tone sweater will be a great staple piece. 

This picture doesn't do either of these skirts justice. The skirt to the left is Cato, and on the right is another Ann Taylor Loft piece. The red shoe to the left is Liz Claiborne and the brown suede pump is Aerosoles.

The shrug is Liz Claiborne and the wrap dress is vintage - so here I go channeling Ms. (Diana) Ross again!

The white jacket is (faux) leather,  Mossimo  and machine washable. The jacket on the right is Liz Claiborne again. I think I have Liz Claiborne and Ann Taylor radar when I shop at the thrift stores (and Mia noticed that too along with my argyle sweater obsession).

Thrift Store Fashion Finds 5.22.15

I took a trip to my favorite place - The Foundry and found several pieces.

I bought the following for $26.51...

1 Queen Bed Skirt

You will probably never see me wear this dress without a sweater, jacket, shrug or this vest. I found this Tribal Jean vest by pure luck!

I have a hot pink skirt that this cardigan and either tank underneath create a great outfit. 

This is an Eddie Bauer maxi dress. Can't wait to wear it in the Fall!

Thrift Store Find 3.14.15

Lovelady had a half-price sale on all clothes and shoes last week. My friend Mia and I always look forward to this sale because they have it twice a year, and it gives us a chance to catch up. Well, I can say we really caught up because we got to Lovelady around 9AM and I got home at 9PM.

We went to several thrift stores around town looking for those pieces that spoke to us. The funny thing was that we found pieces for each other more than ourselves. Also, we had lunch and dinner between all the shopping.

I spent around $70 on all my finds...

I love this (QVC) Susan Graver jacket for myself, but instead I gave it to my mom.

I got this Old Navy wool coat for $6.99!. The red hat is for a rodeo-themed party I'm going to in April.

I love all those shoes - but the Nine West peep toes - too cute!

The maxi dress was more of an impulse buy, however I like it. It's red, it's denim and it's a (QVC) Denim & Co. coat for $6.99!

The graphic sweater has sequins and beads on the front (I love shiny things). The green rain coat is exactly what I've been looking for - so glad I found it at half off. I'm obsessed with camouflage clothing (I own several pieces).

Mia said that I also have an obsession with argyle. I really didn't need it - but it was red, argyle and Liz Claiborne - I couldn't resist it. The purse caught my eye for it's geometrics and colors.

Love this shift dress! It zips down the front and have pockets. The sweater is Mohair and apparently originally bought overseas (the care tag is not in English, so I hand-washed it and let air-dry)

This is an outfit! The print tee is Daisy Fuentes.

This jacket is Bob Mackie (designer of Carol Burnett and Cher in the '70s). I'm not sure if this is his couture or from his QVC line.

 

Thrift Store Fashion Find 2.21.15

This Foundry thrift store find was a pure fluke! I went there to look for something - actually anything for a party I was attending that night. I found nothing for the party, however I found some great spring and summer pieces at wonderful prices. I didn't realize until I got in line to check out that everything I bought were Yellow and White and Orange ticketed - except two (blue ticket) items. They were either 25% (orange), 50% (yellow) or 80% (white) off the ticketed price.

I began the new year with several fashion finds at The Foundry yesterday. My goal was to spend $20 on clothes and to look at a TV. Well, I managed to do both for only $45.56.

Today, I made the awesome mistake in returning back to The Foundry to look for a brown thin belt. I didn't find it - but I stumbled across a pair of shoes, a sweater, several pieces of jewelry, and an unusual camouflage belt for an additional $25.00 - but no regrets.

Last week, I received a catalog from a company (I've never heard of) that sells strange clothing and goods. The plan was to look through the catalog and throw it away. Unfortunately, I found a pair of boots that caught my attention. They were odd (and I love odd), and I had to have them.  So I ordered the boots, and they arrived this morning. When I tried them on, they made my size nine look petite and my leg didn't look bulky with those operational pockets on the sides...so adorable!

They were $99.95 - a great price for such an unusual boot!

I think I've bought enough to last me a couple months until I start looking for summer sandals.

Columbus Day Fashion Find 10.11.14

Columbus Day was a day off for me, so I decided to take the short trip to The Foundry to look for the one fashion item that seemed to be the hardest to find - a red skirt. I gave myself a limited amount of time and money with the sole purpose of finding this red skirt.

When I arrived, there was a table of designer shoes at the entrance and behold were a pair of COOGI boots that were worn probably once  - so I grabbed those quickly and went to accessories and found a stretch belt, There were two cardigans one red and the other black and white (which I forgot to include in the picture) and hoo-ray! - that illusive red skirt.

While I was at the checkout there was this brown and green choker (I love wearing chokers) in the jewelry case, so I picked that up too, and in total spent under $35.

I found all of this in under an hour - what a quick shopping spree!

Thrift Store Fashion Find 10.4.14

Today was a half price sale at Lovelady and if course I had to go and take a friend. I made a decision to keep my spending limit to $20, since I had made so many non-thrift store purchases recently. Happily, I was under budget spending only $13.46. My friend spent over $75 and bought many pairs of shoes and boots. Lovelady also gave away free hot dogs, chips and sodas...a great sale and free food is a good way to spend a Saturday morning!

Thrift store fashion find 9.6.14

Yesterday I showed a friend how I shop at thrift stores. Typically, I only go to one store - but my friend wanted to cover practically all the thrift stores in Birmingham so we went to five - plus an outlet mall. We started at 10 am at Lovelady, and luckily I had one $40 for $20 Groupon voucher - so that's where I bought the most items and only went over by $3.00 (even bought two jackets for my son). I managed to purchase one item from Mission Possible and Salvation Army, nothing from Goodwill, (had lunch) and made the last stop The Foundry where I bought three items. My friend only found a couple items at Lovelady and The Foundry - but I was very surprised of her stamina...I got home at 8 pm.
